Karen Vanmol

« Karen Vanmol finds a city without nature claustrophobic, but nature with no sign of humanity is too quiet. She uses her tools trying out how materials reacts to them.  »

« As in my earlier work, I find my inspiration in architecture and nature. Except that everything continues to evolve and change. A city without a little nature works claustrophobic for me, but a nature landscape with no sign of humanity is too quiet for me. Protecting or imitating nature, the use of natural materials in architecture, the restoring of a road surface, accidental strong shapes on a construction site, these things I find very interesting.
On my way through town, I hunt and collect. I always encounter interesting images that I use as an inspiration. In addition, there is a certain choice of materials and colors, these are strongly influenced by memories. For example the necklaces, furniture in different colors, certain constructions. I make my story and the viewer projects its own story on top of mine.
I always start from my sources of inspiration, with these eyes I look around me. I show viewers how I look at things around me. Next to that I make jewellery and I like to use my tools and try out how materials reacts to them. Eventually I work with materials, and that provides an additional factor. I find out the properties they possess and how I can edit them and this will count in the final result. Some techniques I use are common and you can find them in your house.
Naturally I tend to work clean and delineated, here I try against it by for example damaging materials. It gets me out of my comfort zone and it bothers me, but at the same time I want to do it. » Karen Vanmol page at Klimt02

Amani Bou Dargham (Alchimia) is selected for Talente with her series “WHAT REMAINS?”

« “what remains?” is a reflection about the self we create and we communicate to others. »

“We face the deepest emotions that are hidden away,
they slip through our hands and through our head.
They present themselves as a truth.
A truth that the eyes did not want to see nor the mind to think of.
A truth that reveals all the hidden remains and presents them as a reminder of your essence.
You are a carrier.
You are the carried.
You construct the link in between.”

The steel hooks that are forged around my body are the carrier of an ‘ephemeral’ object.
They are shaped around it and exist only because of it.
However the hooks are ever lasting while the source disappears.
One will remain with an empty steel rod to carry as a reminder of what was inside it.

about « Imprint » serie :
« I experience a stronger emotional connection towards textile than metal. It might be because of the strong bond between textile and the human body. In the work Imprint I have tried to transform the exclusive and everlasting precious metal into something more temporary and fleeting. Pictures of draped cloth have marked the silver surface leaving textile traces behind. » Karin Gyllerfelt

Myung Urso

New series of work from 2014, where Myung Urso explores a working process open to momentary happenings and cultivates objects from the moment creation.

« It is always intriguing to see how my personal imagination and inspiration embody to become an actual object. The working process is more open towards momentary happenings rather than manipulated by preset intention, which brings unexpected value. I rather explore, experience and cultivate the moment.
I often observe how different elements play out in their own way, helping to define the destiny of each work. Pursuing the textures of abundant materials is my primal interest in making jewelry. Adopting different fibers with other solid material reveals unique surfaces, characteristics, shapes, colors and textures. This is the most fascinating part of my work. »

SOLOƧ: Never Odd Or Even Part IV by Tanel Veenre and Märta Mattsson Exhibition  -

ATTA Gallery Bangkok, Thailand

This is the fourth exhibition by the artistic duo, Tanel Veenre and Märta Mattsson. In this exhibition, the artists explore the notion of symmetry in life and nature and its contradictions through palindromes.

SOLOƧ: Never Odd Or Even Part IV by Tanel Veenre and Märta Mattsson Exhibition / 07 Jan 2015 - 21 Feb 2015 ATTA Gallery Bangkok, Thailand

What happens when two artists decide to mirror their own work but also reflect and bounce off each other’s visual language? Will we borrow or rob ideas from one another? Will we feel the need to be the one who must sell at tallest sum? Will our work end up at the same level? Or will ‘dammit i’m mad!’ for doing this pop up in our heads? Our new series of work has been created under an echo of two minds exploring the contradictory meanings of symmetry in nature and life. Mirrors are commonly used for personal grooming or admiring oneself. In the mirror you can see yourself, but not quite… The mirror image is reversed. In a mutual admiration can we create a mega gem? This might get interesting, won’t it now? Have we hit your radar? Come and see this top spot that is too hot to hoot!

National Ornamental Metal Museum Tributaries: Susie Ganch December 5, 2014 -- March 1, 2015
Driven by the impulse to “create what I cannot see,” Susie Ganch strips familiar forms down to their underlying molecular structure, suspending precious stones and enameled copper in intricate webs of silver and steel. Her jewelry and sculpture has been featured in Metalsmith magazine and in numerous national and international exhibitions. She is currently an Associate Professor and Head of the Metals Program at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.

 outerlimits

Orbital by nature, jewelry art lives on the body. Jewelry art invites comment. Jewelry art says, « Howdy! ». It is with pleasure that Facèré Jewelry Art Gallery offers Outer Limits, an exhibition of jewelry art that is as playful as it is avant-garde. Each featured artist experiments with peripheries – pushing the boundaries of material, technique and form.

» Davinia Torija.

‘Aus meiner persönlichen Sammlung’ / « From my personal collection » – Galerie Biró, Munich (DE)

Petra Zimmermann  – until 21.02.2015

Petra Zimmermann "Aus meiner persönlichen Sammlung"

The ambitious Austrian jewelery artist Petra Zimmermann is one of the pioneers among those fearless jewelry designers who compose from the collage of artifacts ever eloquent objects. Much obstinacy arises because of stylistic blend: taken together in opulent and magnificent objects made of plastic. Glamorous staged quotes from the old and the young world combine to form versatile interpretable offs: « yes I use mainly newspaper clippings as material for my work. The ink of the original image is transferred to plastic and machined, painted over or behind, replaced the newspaper, for example, by gold leaf. « (Source RA2.at)
« This enables Petra Zimmermann, process behind the optical opulence of their work relevant aesthetic and social issues in her pieces – relevant to a generation that fights not against traditional conventions, but rather in a more complex experienced environment in search for personal and historical coherence goes.
Interesting and entertaining for sure is the solo exhibition at the gallery Biró, Munich

Graziano Visintin. I giorni e le opere

« PRECIOUS THOUGHTS. MONOGRAPHS: GRAZIANO VISINTIN »

« Precious Thoughts », ten years on from its first edition, is dedicated to the great Paduan and international master Graziano Visintin. Padova, Italy

ATTENZIONE – Mostra prorogata fino al 15 marzo 2015

Graziano Visintin

Robean Visschers, HUMOUR forever !

Complexe « constructions » -in an architectural sense-, breathtaking work, but always always present : HUMOUR !

« Constructions » because one thing I first adlired in his work is all these scaffoldings that surround the jewel, like to hold it, but in fact main (?) part of the jewel. Breathtaking !
And Humour when playing with words, with objects, with images from a modern city world
A modern city with tags, advertising everywhere, destructed walls, new constructions withscafffoldings ….. …. delectable !

« This series of work are studies in color, composition, and form, each piece was made within a day. The work was an intuitive response to my thoughts at the time I began each piece. I gave myself material parameters as to not be paralyzed by choice. The time constraint and material limitations allowed me to loosen up and express myself through the simplicity of reaction to formal aesthetics. »
